TX Logistik increases train frequency between Cologne and Romania

Troisdorf, 14 April 2021 – TX Logistik AG is expanding its intermodal connection between Germany and Romania. The rail logistics company, which is part of the Mercitalia Group, is increasing the number of round trips on the Cologne – Curtici connection from five to seven per week as of May 10. The reason for this is the increased demand for rail transport capacity on this route at both economic centers.

With the higher frequency, TX Logistik is primarily responding to the increasing interest of Romanian and Italian forwarders in traffic on the west-east connection. The trains run between the CTS Container Terminal in Cologne-Niehl and the Trade Trans Terminal in Curtici, which is just a few kilometers from the border to Hungary. TX Logistik is responsible for and controls the entire transport chain.

Up to 44 loading units fit on one train. Semi-trailers and megatrailers as well as tank, bulk or 45-inch containers can be transported. In the direction of Curtici, vehicle components are transported, among other things. In the opposite direction, the trains are mainly loaded with furnishings and other consumer goods.

TX Logistik also uses the NiKRASA transshipment system on the route, which allows non-craneable semi-trailers to be placed on the track quickly and easily. Up to four NiKRASA units are currently loaded on average per train.

The Cologne – Curtici connection has already been included in the European network of TX Logistik in 2018. At the start, there were three round trips per week. Due to the high demand, the weekly frequency was increased over time to five departures per direction so far.
