TX Logistik changes terminal near Milan

Troisdorf, 15 December 2020 – TX Logistik AG will be using the Intermodale Milano Segrate terminal on its intermodal link between Duisburg and Milan. The transshipment facility located east of the Italian metropolis replaces the previous destination terminal Busto Arsizio. The relocation will become effective on 11 January.

The reason of this change: Segrate is more closer to the metropolis of Milan and the industrial district of Bergamo and Brescia. In addition, numerous Mercitalia connections to other destinations in the Italian rail network, for example to Rome, Naples and Sicily, can also be used there.

TX Logistik operates the connection with five round trips per week between the DUSS terminal Duisburg-Ruhrort Hafen and Segrate terminal, operated by Terminali Italia, a company of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group. The connection is offered as an open train system. Numerous customers regularly use the 34 slots per train to transport containers, semi-trailers, swap bodies, as well as tank and silo units. Mainly consumer goods are transported on the rail link between Germany and Italy.

TX Logistik sees another advantage in the fact that the P400 profile can now also be driven without restrictions on the Gotthard axis in Switzerland, and customers can therefore put the semitrailers with a corner height of four meters that are common in the transport industry on the train. This will open up completely new transport options for intermodal trains through Switzerland in the future – a shift potential that TX Logistik intends to use for further activities to join Italy and North Europe through the Swiss corridor.
