TX Logistik provides new direct connection into the hinterland

Troisdorf, 7 May 2020 –TX Logistik AG (TXL) launched a new direct connection between Bremerhaven and Frankfurt am Main at the start of May. On the route into the hinterland, which is travelled in two round trips each week, shipping containers with goods of all kinds are transported for import and export.

“Our customers now have a direct connection on this route for the first time,” says Ulrich Wilkens, Head of Sales Ocean Rail Freight Europe at TX Logistik. “Our preliminary analysis has clearly shown that the demand exists, especially as there is only one opportunity for this route on the market so far.”

With the new direct connection, the shipping containers reach their destination overnight. All container terminals in Bremerhaven (CT I to IV) and the inland terminal of DUSS (Deutsche Umschlaggesellschaft Schiene-Strasse) in Frankfurt will be served. The capacity of the train is 96 TEUs per departure and direction. Train handling and traction are provided by boxXpress.de GmbH, in which TX Logistik has a shareholding together with partners.

TXL itself takes care of the marketing of the train capacities and ensures the complete flow of data and information between all parties involved in the transport. Truck operators are also involved in this, who take over the container pre- and on-carriage in the Frankfurt area for the railway logistics company.

With the new route, TX Logistik, as part of the Mercitalia Group, is also expanding the company’s maritime network, which already includes over 40 direct connections per week between Bremerhaven and Kornwestheim, Munich, Nuremberg and Ulm. In addition, there are more than 100 connections per week from and to the seaports of Hamburg and Rotterdam to inland terminals in southern Germany.
